For those not in the know, 'Super Smash Bros.' is an over-the-top brawling game featuring characters from the Nintendo universe and beyond. 'Brawl' has the largest list to date with the usual suspects like Mario, Link and Fox McCloud. Then, there are some very unexpected entries like Solid Snake and Sonic The Hedgehog. Each character of course has their own special attacks and moves that
are unleashed using whichever control scheme (Wiimote, ameCube Don't be fooled though by the simplicity of the moves or the game itself. The amount of depth 'Brawl' has will surprise you. The one main objective hasn't changed though. Your goal is kick the living hell out of your foe and send them rocketing out of the arena you are battling in, if you can. Special items can be picked up and used to unleash special attacks like a Super Mushroom, a Green Shell and a Home-Run Bat.
For the first time in the 'Smash Bros.' series, with an Internet connection you can take the action online. You can go toe to toe with registered friends or basic, team battles with anyone online. The online experience itself is unbelievably smooth with no noticeable lag time at all. As developers become more familiar with the Wii and its technology, the releases are improving especially the graphics themselves. From the gameplay to the cut-scenes, 'Brawl' looks magnificent. At times, it rivals and surpasses last year's 'Metroid' release when it comes to the assorted visuals effects and clarity. With all of the choices available to you, 'Brawl' has a replayability factor that is so far off the chart you would need the Hubble Space Telescope to track it. Bursting at the seams with choices, this is not a title you will enjoy for a few weeks or month. Nope. We are talking YEARS here, folks.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Rating: 9.5 / 10
