For all intents and purposes, each Call of Duty release is another sequel in the franchise and another chapter in the on-going story fans have come to know and love. With 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3', our heroes Cpt. John "Soap" MacTavish and former SAS Cpt. John Price have returned to fight the good fight. World War 3 rages on with hopes of a peaceful resolution on the horizon. Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov will have none of that and throws a handful of grenades into the works. He kidnaps the Russian president and his daughter in the hopes of obtaining the launch codes to Russia's nuclear arsenal. Not good.
Although 'MW3' doesn't push any boundaries as far as gameplay is concerned, the level design is quite resourceful. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games (with Raven Software lending a hand) have put together an experience that will definitely keep players on their toes. Every level is packed with many special cool moments such as a firefight in zero gravity and an underwater driving mission to destroy an enemy submarine. There are a lot of levels and a lot of excitement has been packed into them.
The 'MW3' multiplayer with its 16 new maps is well put together, addictive and fills in any gaps the campaign might have left. The Special Ops mode is just the icing on the cake offering a fantastic list of different challenges. The new 'Survival' mode in which you face wave after wave of baddies is again nothing new to gamers who have played 'Halo' and 'Gears of War' but supports the entire package as a better buy. With more rewards, more unlockables and more modes of play, 'MW3' is a gratifying package that doesn't push any boundaries and isn't perfect but it still satisfies.
